Metal Free 

We as a practice no longer use amalgam fillings at all as we believe that there are far better natural tooth coloured alternatives.

There is a big debate amongst the dental profession as  to the safety of amalgam causing a wide division in views amongst dentists but if you have a choice then we really suggest that you go amalgam free. We do no use amalgam on children either.

We do not advocate the removal of amalgam fillings just for the sake of  appearance and we take every case very seriously on a case by case basis. There is an advised regime that can be followed to reduce toxicity whilst removing amalgam.

We use metal free crowns when possible as they can produce some fantastic results.

We still use gold as this is still a truly noble material that lasts, looks good and often requires minimall tooth preparation (loss).

The message should still be to prevent those fillings needing done in the first place and if they are really necessary then with minimal preparation followed by some nice tooth coloured filling material AND advise on how to look after it and your other teeth!!
